How can you help?

We are asking all Haringey residents and businesses to consider how you can support Haringey Giving Week this year.

Between 30 November to 6 December your support is needed to help our borough’s most vulnerable residents during 2022.

Live local. Give local – If you can, please donate and encourage your friends, family and colleagues, too. Fundraising for us couldn’t be easier! Why not give it a go? Can you put up a poster where you live?

Haringey businesses – Can you put up a poster and encourage your customers to give? Can you give a percentage of your profits during the week? We’ll be happy to publicise your support.

Why we need the support of residents and businesses now?

Many residents are facing overwhelming challenges and it is critical that we raise income to enable grant giving to support them in the tough year ahead. As a borough wide charity with strong community links, we can respond quickly and in a targeted way.

The pandemic has had a profound impact:
  • Haringey has the highest unemployment claimant rate in the UK (11.4%)
  • The proportion of people on universal credit is one of the highest in the UK
  • Furlough rates in Tottenham were among the highest seen nationally
  • Many of our residents live in some of the most deprived wards in the UK
  • Significant medium-term impacts of COVID-19 are unfolding, including unemployment, poverty, mental health, education
  • Existing health, social, education and economic inequalities, have been worsened - increasing demand on community support and services.

Haringey Giving Week is your big chance to help us tackle inequality and support those in need in Haringey. The money you give goes straight to the people who need it most: children and young people, residents experiencing isolation, ill health, poverty and violence.

Haringey Giving's impact to date

Thanks to donations from the public, businesses and funders, in the last 18 months Haringey Giving has been a lifeline to the borough, distributing over £460,000 in grants to over 100 local grass roots community projects to support thousands of our most vulnerable people and communities.
