A big thank you to everyone who has supported our Haringey COVID-19 Appeal! You are our Haringey Heroes!

Generous donations from the public and corporates have enabled us to award over £100,000 in grants to 23 local community initiatives providing vital support to our community at this challenging time. Local residents on Haringey Giving’s Board were part of a Grants Panel that met at least weekly to allocate and transfer funds as quickly as possible.

The majority of grants have been focused on delivering food, essential provisions and emergency funds to those in need. These include:

Others range from providing advice and guidance, mental health support and accommodation for the homeless, as follows:

  • All People All Places - £4,870. For accommodation, food, washing facilities and practical and emotional support for rough sleepers in Haringey.
  • Bloody Good Period - £4,998. For menstrual products for those unable to access at this time.
  • Citizens Advice Haringey - £5,000. For advice and support for clients impacted by COVID-19.
  • Creating Expressions - £5,000. For online counselling for vulnerable and isolated individuals.
  • Generation Exchange - £1,340. For on-line support and technology for older people
  • Pram Depot - £4,824. For packs for pregnant women for their stays in hospital when giving birth.
  • Sekhem Arts - £3,255. For hot food and fitness sessions for elderly residents in sheltered housing.
  • Sister System - £5,000. For nutrition and hygiene boxes, virtual therapeutic sessions and virtual peer mentoring sessions for girls and young women in and transitioning from care.

We have been truly inspired by the way in which local organisations have risen so swiftly and capably to meet the challenge of supporting those most in need in our community at this difficult time.

We received many more applications than we were able to fund and we know the needs of the Haringey community remain high. There is an ongoing, urgent need for food and essentials for those continuing to shield and for people whose incomes have taken a significant blow due to COVID. We also want to begin to address some of the longer-term economic, social and health effects of the crisis.

We are seeking to raise further donations through our Haringey COVID-19 Appeal to enable us to reopen the Fund for a second round of grants as soon as possible.
