Summary 

The aim and objectives 

This is a new pilot fund to support Haringey based community and voluntary groups and organisations to deliver early help activities across ten priority areas.  

The fund is administered and managed by Haringey Giving on behalf of London Borough of Haringey’s Early Help Service with money from the UK Government’s Department for Levelling Up and Communities.  

The fund complements other early help work in the borough and this is the first time that funding is available in this format for community and voluntary groups and organisations to apply to deliver their own early help activities.  

Decisions about who will receive funding will be made by a group of local people, recruited through an open call. Young people will have the main role in the fund’s participatory decision making and the balance of the decision-making group will in favour of young people, including young parents and carers.  

Who? 

Early help work is for children and young people age range 0-19 years and age range 0-25 years for disabled children and disabled young people and those with special educational needs. Families are understood in all their diversity of composition and formats.  

This fund is open to constituted and unconstituted not-for-profit groups, organisations, social enterprises and charities. Schools are also eligible to apply to this fund.  

What? 

The Alleviate programme will fund applications for time limited activities / projects which address at least one of the following ten priority areas: 

  • Getting a good education 
  • Good early years development 
  • Improved mental and physical health 
  • Promoting recovery and reducing harm from substance use 
  • Improved family relationships 
  • Children safe from abuse and exploitation 
  • Crime prevention and tackling crime 
  • Safe from domestic abuse 
  • Secure housing 
  • Financial stability 

The budget 

The budget for the programme is £34,045.  

The fund is open for applications between £1,000 and £5,000.  

All funded projects must be completed by the end of July 2024.

Deadline for applications: 12-noon Wednesday 9 August 2023 

Date when you’ll hear the result of your application: 9 October 2023
