Our borough has a large number of vulnerable and economically disadvantaged residents.  Haringey Giving is uniquely placed to co-ordinate and channel fundraising within our community. We’re working closely with the Council, local charities and community volunteering groups, to ensure the rapid delivery of food and other essential items and services to those most need during the pandemic.

Our Haringey COVID-19 Appeal has already raised over £198,000, including a generous £20,000 of match funding from Linklaters, our lead corporate sponsor, and further £80,000 from Hays Talent Solutions. We have the organisation and processes in place to ensure these funds are rapidly deployed and have the maximum impact at a local level. All our activities are co-ordinated with government funded schemes to avoid duplication of effort. To date we have funded 49 local charities and not-for-profit projects to provide support for the most vulnerable people and communities in Haringey.

With the second lockdown underway, we know there are many more people in desperate circumstances who will need our help. Parts of Haringey have the highest projected unemployment rates in the UK and food poverty affects 40% of our children. Educational attainment, mental health, isolation, the risk of homelessness and digital exclusion are among the increasing issues for our residents as the pandemic continues.

Many people from across our communities are in need of urgent support. That’s why we are contacting business leaders in the community to ask for their support, in any of following ways:

  • Making a direct financial contribution by way of match funding donations from the public up to £5,000 or more during Haringey Giving Week. This will encourage more donations from the public as their donation will be doubled while match funding lasts.
  • Encouraging employees to make a donation or fundraise during Haringey Giving Week
  • Providing logistical support or other resources e.g. transport for essential items, technology expertise
  • Encouraging and supporting employee volunteering within your organisation

We fully appreciate that many businesses are also facing huge challenges during this unprecedented disruption to economic activity but if you are in a position to help, now is the time when your contribution will make the biggest difference. Any support from your organisation will be widely recognized and promoted across our extensive media channels and networks, unless anonymity is preferred.
