Sewn Together are the Haringey Giving Funded Project of the Year Award 2023

The Sewn Together Program, supported by the Haringey Giving fund, was able to offer more services to women from different backgrounds who share a common challenge: living in low-income households and coping with physical or mental health conditions. Many of these women expressed feeling lonely, isolated, and invisible in their situation. The Create Your Lifestyle program provided them with daily opportunities to participate in various activities that enhanced their well-being, skills and confidence. These activities included crafting, light exercise, pampering, and enrichment sessions. One of the highlights was the Lotions and Potions workshops, where a qualified artisan taught the women how to make their own beauty products from kitchen ingredients. The program also helped the women with their CV development and business start-up workshops focusing on green sustainable and environmental opportunities  empowering them to pursue their career goals.

'We are grateful for the funding that enabled us to carry out one aspect of our project successfully. However, we also want to express our appreciation for the additional support and guidance that Haringey Giving Staff provided us. Their expertise and advice helped us to expand and promote the activities we offered to our beneficiaries. We could not have done it without them.'

Sonja Camara, Project Manager - Outreach & Engagement

Sewn Together are proud to report that one of their achievements was the Celebrating Women's History Month, when they hosted Haringey Women's Empowerment Summit Enterprise & Employment For All. This event aimed to inspire and support women with physical or hidden disabilities to explore various opportunities and pathways to achieve their goals. The event featured networking, panel discussions and workshops with 42 participants and seven delivery services that offered guidance and assistance on topics such as enterprise and business start-up, self-employment, disability benefits, health and wellbeing. The event had a positive impact on the participants, who heard from four women with visible or hidden disabilities who shared their stories and challenges, as well as their solutions and strategies to overcome them and pursue their dreams.
