Enabling people in Haringey to make improvements together

Living and thriving in Haringey can seem especially hard if you have to deal with the challenges alone. This is why our Together We Can fund aims to enable people in Haringey to make improvements together. The fund aims to support local groups and organisations in tackling issues that most matter to them across three three priority areas:

  • Children and young people - activities which create spaces where children and young people can thrive and fashion the future they want. We place a special focus on their community safety and addressing negative impact of knife and gun crime.
  • Mental health - activities that improve mental health and reduce social isolation. Projects that help increase the agency of people in Haringey, so they can make the change they want in their lives.
  • Skills and enterprise - tackling underemployment and enabling people to be develop skills and be successful at enterprises they run or work for. We do this also with reference to refugees and migrant communities who may face additional barriers to accessing support and guidance.

Together We Can Fund's core aim is to enable people to come together and realise their ambitions by  supporting activities that:

  • Are developed and delivered by people in Haringey
  • Focus on matters which are important for people and groups in Haringey, and help address some of the underlying causes of inequalities
  • Help share and develop local knowledge, skills, ideas and capacity.

In January 2020, we launched the Together We Can pilot and funded our first two grantees - RISE Projects and Wise Thoughts both of which work with children and young people.

We are grateful for the support of our corporate partners and donors who came onboard since the inception of the Together We Can Fund. They include amongst others - LHC Community Benefit Fund, Haringey Council, Linklaters, The National Lottery Community Fund, Bloomfield Trust, Two Magpies Fund, The Orp Foundation, Hays Talent Solutions, Woodley Coles LLP and Related Argent.

We aim to foster a Haringey where people are engaged and inspired by the opportunity to achieve positive change through community action. So, we will now continue to run Together We Can with a renewed focus on our core priorities and enable people in Haringey take action on things that matter to them. It is through the pulling together of resources through a collaboration between our donors, Haringey Giving and local groups, organisations and individuals that we can make a difference where it matters most.
